The court at Ernakulam vacated the stay imposed on the release of the Kamal Haasan starrer, Papanasam, based on a complaint filed by author Satheesh Paul that it is based on his novel.

Satheesh’s allegation was that Drishyam, the original version of Papanasam in Malayalam, was based on his novel Oru Mazhakalathu. He had sought a stay on the release of Papanasam until the issue is resolved in the court. This case came up for hearing today and the judge held that there is no similarity between the novel and the film, and therefore vacated the stay order on its release, states a press note from the makers of Papanasam. With this major victory, Kamal is getting ready to release Papanasam very soon.
