While Baahubali has been making waves ever since its trailer launch, four films from our own Kollywood have silently lined up for release this Friday. Let’s take a look at what each has to offer:
Indru Netru NaalaiAfter seeing umpteen time machines tales from Hollywood, here’s one from our own tinsel town and it promises to be a jolly ride. The trailer shows a seemingly elated Vishal Vishnu join Karunakaran on a journey back in time and being a true thalaivar fan, we loved the ‘engaluku epothum Rajini thaan’ dialogue. They showed us a piece of today, a peek into the past and a glimpse into future and we definitely like what we have seen of it.
Expectations: A funny yet thrilling ride through time. We hope the knots in the screenplay and CG are good enough to make it worth our time.
Moone Moonu Varthai
This is definitely the underdog of the lot with a relatively fresh cast on board – Arjun Chidambaram, Aditi Chengappa and Venkatesh Harinathan. The actors look promising in the trailer and the humour will definitely make you smile even if you don’t fall down laughing. Traces of Director Madhumita’s earlier film Kola Kolaya Mundrika can be seen in the trailer as the performances have a theatrish feel to them.
Expectations: As always, we wish the underdog to have the best run. It looks like a breezy happy broamance film and sounds perfect for a weekend outing with friends.
Yagavarayinum naa kaakka
This film directed by Sathya Prabhas Pinishetty and lead by his brother Mirugam/Eeram-fame Aadhi promises to explore the real-life tale of a middle class youngster left at the lurch by a group of rich friends. He then gets to counter the Mumbai mob boss played by Mithun Chakraborty (surprise!). The breakup song is so yesterday but the rest of the script sounds promising.
Expectations: We hope things don’t turn too ugly for us – think gory, blood-dripping sequences. Will the real-life inspiration translate into a super slick action movie? Let’s wait.
Kaaval has the odd pair of samuthirakani pairing up with Vemal. This again is based on a true story, directed by Nagendran R. Poonaigai poo Geetha plays the lead in this action flick. The trailer shows a crisply edited flick on contract killers though some action sequences remind us of films that came a decade ago.
Expectations: We hope Samuthirakani’s fiery presence and Vemal’s casual charm works for the film.
