Hero JIIVA seems to be on a roll with his penchant for trying something new with each film he does. He’s just had a recent release in a fun fantasy film, Pokkiri Raja. Now he’s already started shooting for his next flick, which is a fun filled horror genre, something he’s never tried before. The film is already raising curiosity with its unusual title, Sangili Bongili Kathuve Thorae.

Speaking to us from Pazhani where he’s shooting with the unit of director Atlee’s first home production, Jiiva seems to be on cloud nine, “Atlee and I go a long way back. When he was assistant director to Shankar in Nanban we used to meet everyday on sets. In fact, he would be the one who would explain my lines to me for Nanban. I recall that at that time itself I liked the way he would narrate the story and had a finger on the pulse of the latest youth trends. So we shares a good rapport. When director Ike told me Atlee is producing this film, I was happy since both Ike and Atlee are youngsters and good friends of mine. So I knew it would be fun shooting this film. So far Atlee came once to the shooting and chilled out with us and left.  Ike is handling the complete show.”

The film, is directed by debut director Ike, the grandson of legend MR Radha and nephew of veteran actor Radha Ravi. The film stars Sridivya, paired opposite Jiiva with Radhika and Radha Ravi lending their able skills along with stars like Thambi Ramaiah, Divya Darshini and Soori. So what attracted Jiiva to a horror film? “Ike is a good friend. I just loved the script the minute I heard it. It’s a family based horror film. It will remind you of Priyan sir’s films with full on comedy plot with a whole bunch of family members. Its something I havn’t done before,” says the actor. Director Ike himself has assisted Director Priyadarshan in the past and we hope to see streaks of his legendary familial bonding with his shisya too.

The unit has been in Pazhani for the last 25 days. “We will be shooting around sixty percent of the film here after which we will come to Chennai for the shoot. We will have another outdoor shoot and will wrap up the film soon after. Once it’s over I will join the shoot of Kavalai Vendam,” informs Jiiva.

The family atmosphere extends to after the shoot and between shots as well. “We have long and funny chats with Radha Ravi and Radhika mam,” laughs Jiiva who is clearly enjoying his outdoor shoot to the fullest. Ask him about working with a new director and he replies, “I know Ike for a long time. I was immensely attracted by the strong script and the treatment of the story. Ike is someone who understands how to get the mass approach for a hero in a horror flick. So I’m completely confident about the project.”

The actor is tight lipped about his role and concludes he will keep that revelation for later. Jiiva is also part of Kavalai Vendam directed by Deekay, with Bobby Simhaa and Kajal Agarwal.
