Udhayanidhi Stalin’s latest release has been doing well at the box office. The movie has garnered favourable reviews and has been pulling in crowds through the weekend. Udhay’s understated emotional performance has been appreciated by all including Superstar Rajinikanth. However as usual the movie has not been granted tax exemption despite the fact that the movie being censored U and has no violent action scenes. The tax committee has stated that Manithan is not a Tamil word and is a sanskrit word thereby exemption is not granted. Udhay is now appealing to the court for the exemption. Udhay’s previous movies have all faced the same issue. His last release Gethu did not get exemption stating that Gethu was not a Tamil word. The actor has got a stay on the order and has moved to Supreme court.
