Actor Arya is having a blast with his meaty role in the Mollywood flick The Great Father. Produced by August Cinema, the film shoot has been completed, starring Mammootty, Sneha and Shaam. In a chat with Arya, we discover what’s keeping him excited about his role.
The first look posters show a well built, bare-backed Arya, and have been creating quite a buzz. We ask him about his role and he says, “People are saying I’m playing a villain but actually its not exactly that. The film is about a cat and mouse game and I play an investigating officer with shades to his character. I’m a cop but not in uniform. It’s my first full length meaty role unlike the smaller parts I’ve played in films like Urumi and Double Barrel earlier. So I’m really excited about it.”
Elaborating on another point that has got him excited, he says, “The screenplay is really different. It’s not just a thriller but has a very intelligent script. Mammootty plays a dad who is the ideal and superhero for his son. How he protects his kid in time of need is part of the story. That’s why the title The Great Father. Acting with a legend like Mammootty was another highlight for me.”
Shaam is debuting in Malayalam as a cop while Mammooty plays a builder. The music is by Gopi Sundar and Hanif Adeni directs. The film is set for a Christmas release. Ask him what was challenging about the role and he grins, “Well, I had to learn pages of dialogues and recite them in Malayalam. Though I speak the language at home, its very different from the language used on screen. So learning the lengthy dialogues with many tongue twisting words and emoting with them was quite a task and something new for me!”
