Dhanush’s upcoming trilogy Vada Chennai is said to be one of his costliest ventures. The film is directed by Vetrimaaran and produced under Dhanush’s Wunderbar Productions.

Apparently Vada Chennai’s first schedule cost equaled Visaranai’s entire production cost. The three part trilogy is based in North Chennai. Shooting started recently after a long break. In the meantime Dhanush completed the post production work of Pa Paandi and VIP 2.

Rumor has it that due to the delays, the film’s lead actress Amala Paul has dropped out. Amala had shot for the first schedule and took pains to nail the North Chennai accent. Earlier Samantha was signed for the role but she dropped out citing date issues. Vijay Sethupathi also dropped out the project as he was unable to allot the dates necessary. Official confirmation awaited.
