Director S S Rajamouli received the ANR National Award from Vice President Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of Telengana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao. The award ceremony was held in Hyderabad yesterday. S S Rajamouli received the award in recognition of his contribution to Telugu film Industry

The event was attended by many Industry biggies along with the Akkineni family. The vice-president said that S S Rajamouli is ‘One of the most creative, innovative and inspiring film-makers’. The Chief Minister spoke at length about legendary actor Late. ANR and how he excelled in various genres like social, romantic and mythological.

This award was instituted in 2005 by the Akkineni International Foundation. It recognizes artists for their contribution to the Indian film industry. Earlier recipients of the ANR National Award include Dev Anand, Shabana Azmi, Anjali Devi, Vyjayantimala Bali, Lata Mangeshkar, K. Balachander, Hemamalini, Shyam Benegal and Amitabh Bachchan.
