State Information Minister Kadambur Raju has announced that the government will not rollback the 10% additional local entertainment tax. The Producers Council has been on strike and refusing to release movies till the tax in withdrawn.

In yesterday’s Nadigar Sangam meet, it was decided that they will approach Chief Minister E K Palanisami for a resolution. However the announcement from the Information Minister has been disheartening for many.

With both sides yet to come to a consensus the release of films this week and Diwali releases like Mersel seem to be in trouble. A key meeting is scheduled tomorrow to discuss the additional tax and new ticket prices tomorrow. Positive news is expected.
