Mersal seems to be attracting more than its fair share of attention. The film is racing towards the 100 crore mark but not all things are rosy. The film is facing opposition from BJP for its scenes on GST and digital India.
Apparently in the movie Vijay questions the fact that though the government levies 28 % GST its yet to provide free medical treatment. This has not sat well with policy makers. Also joining the protest are Tamil Nadu doctors. They have stated that they will boycott the film along with their family for portraying their profession and state of health care poorly.
With the mounting issues the producers may cave and chop off the scenes causing the issues. Unofficial reports say that Sri Thenandal Films have agreed to chop off the film’s scenes. Official confirmation awaited.
