Sri Thenandal had mapped out huge promotions for Mersel. They had created a twitter emoji, trademarked the title, rolled out a grand audio launch and celebrated each and every milestone like teaser or trailer release.
However the team got a nasty shock when another producer named Rajendran said that Mersel was taken from his movie title Mersalayitten which was registered in 2014. He had approached the court which directed that the title Mersel should not be used till October 3.
