According to trade reports, Mersal breached the magical 250 crores mark last week. The film will soon celebrate a successful 50 days run at the box office. The film released on October 18 on Diwali day. It also released in Telugu as Athindhi and became Vijay’s biggest opening in Tollywood. It has topped the all time share records beating Baahubali in some areas and in most territories has set a non-Baahubali record for highest revenue in India and Overseas.
However there have been some third party sources which have been claiming that the revenue figures are exaggerated and Mersal was a huge loss for the producers and distributors alike.
