Things have been choppy for the film industry for a while. Piracy and GST were huge setbacks last year and the Tamil Nadu Producers Council went on strike to protest against them last year.
Now it has been announced that the TFPC will join Telugu Producers council from March 1 in their strike against digital service providers. They are demanding the following
1. Cut in the Virtual Print Fee -Rs. 22,500/screen/film for regional films
2. Advertisements to be screened for only 8 minutes
3. Two trailers to be telecast along with the film for free
Kannada Industry is also joining the strike while Malayalam industry is still mulling things over. A lot can happen in the next few weeks. Discussions are ongoing between the producers council and representatives from digital providers to find a reasonable solution.
