Contrary to the rumours about the commencement of shooting for Shankar’s ‘Indian – 2’ soon after the cine industry strike, reliable sources have revealed that the grapevine was indeed false and that the shooting will commence after Kamal Haasan completes his anchor role for the reality show ‘Bigg Boss 2’. Shooting for the film is expected to begin sometime in August.

The prequel ‘Indian’, released in 1996 starring Kamal Hassan, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Sukanya, and Nedumudi Venu, revolved around an old honest freedom fighter playing the role of a vigilante who fights against corrupt Government officials in his own style.

Director Shankar began his work on ‘Indian 2’ in Taiwan by launching a helium balloon in January. He is currently working on the post-production tasks of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer ‘2.0’, which is slated to hit the theatres by the end of 2018.
