Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is facing a case of alleged non-payment of dues by GP Selvakumar, film distributor of the Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Kabali’, in south Arcot and Puducherry.
During a press conference, the distributor claimed that he had taken a loan of Rs 5.5 crores to buy the distribution rights for ‘Kabali’ and lost nearly half that amount. Since he was unable to pay off his debts, he is being threatened by the money lenders. He alleged that despite the film making a huge profit, he was not paid his share.
Referring to Producer Thanu as his ‘Godfather’, he also mentioned that he has been helped in the past but this time his payment is being delayed for reasons unknown to him. As a last resort, the distributor has threatened to end his life, if no other options are found.
