With the summer vacations around the corner, this part of the year marks the peak season for the film industry. The Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) has stopped releasing new movies from March 1, and upped the ante by declaring that there will not be any film shootings, events or releases from March 16. However, some producers who are shooting outside the state have been given permission to do so till March 23, all others have been asked to stop. With the ongoing strike, The Tamil cine industry has come to a screeching halt.

Some inside sources reveal that amidst this tense situation, a couple of films have obtained special permission to proceed with their filming. At present, the ‘Thalapathy 62’ team is shooting their film with Actor Vijay at Victoria Hall in Chennai. It is also believed that ‘Naadodigal – 2’, and ‘Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithal’ are likely to follow suit.

‘Irumbu Thirai’, ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’, ‘Tik Tik Tik’, ‘Bhaskar Oru Rascal’, ‘Semma’, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, ‘Kee’, ‘Mercury’, are some of the summer releases which may have to find new dates.
