Sai Pallavi has made heads turn with her role in ‘Premam’ and later her debut in Telugu with ‘Fidaa’. The actress is all set to debut in Tamil, under Director AL Vijay. Earlier titled ‘Karu’, it was officially announced on Saturday, that the film has now been retitled as ‘Diya’ and will be releasing on the 27th of April. Announcing the new title via a poster, the makers didn’t reveal the reason behind the change.
The film is a women-centric film, touching up on the issue of abortion and will explore the relationship between a mother and her four-year-old daughter. “It is an intense subject and focuses on the bond between a mother and her four-year-old daughter. Sai Pallavi essays the mother. The movie touches upon the issue of abortion and I can’t reveal anything more at this point of time,” said the Director who was insistent on working with Sai Pallavi from the beginning and added “Right from the beginning, I was very confident that Sai would be able to pull it off. I watched Premam as well as Kali. I loved her performance in both. She was very impressive in the latter. She has done a wonderful job in the film.”
Sai Pallavi will be playing a doctor and will also be dubbing in her own voice for the film.
