The star-studded event was presided over by the Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, who went on to say that, “NTR held the self-respect of Telugu people at the national and international level, and created history in the world of politics and films. He has always been an icon for us, and our people saw hope in him.

…I am present here out of my respect for NTR. Cinema is a powerful medium and I appreciate Balakrishna for coming forward to honour his father’s life. I hope this film turns out to be a big success and makes history.”

Balakrishna, who dressed up as Duryodhana for the first shot of the film, called it an honour to get to reprise his father’s role in this prestigious project. The day itself was considered auspicious to him, being the date, NTR rose to stardom with Pathala Bhairavi (1951).
